Create a Paper Trail

If you chose not to overnight your paperwork to USCIS via FedEx or USPS, make sure to at least mail your documents with a Return Receipt Request.  This will help safeguard against any “misplacement” of your documents and serve as valuable proof that USCIS received your documents.   It is also important to make a copy of every form and document you send to USCIS.  Keep your Return Receipt with your other immigration paperwork in one location such as a file folder or binder.   Navigating your way through immigration can be confusing and difficult, it is important to stay organized.
